Nani exhaled and wiped off her mascara, to re-do it for..Was this the third time? Felt like longer. Her tights itched- Why was she wearing tights? She never wore tights. But she didn’t want to look bad. She didn’t even know what they were doing but she wanted to look nice, and God, she hoped her hair wasn’t too frizzy, the heat was being weird, and maybe the bruise on her elbow from running into the door had cleared up, ignoring the burn on her wrist from hot trays, and the bump on her hip from kids running around the rest-
She jumped as the door opened, and turned, wide-eyed, mascara brush in hand,

Lilo had pushed open the door to the bathroom when she noticed the house was quiet. Or quieter than it usually was. The house was never quiet. Lilo remembered Jumba promising to rent Wasp Mummies the Return of the Mummies for Valentines day while Nani went out on her “date”. What do grown ups even do on dates? Do they just eat and stare at each other all night? Lilo never really knew where they went since whenever she pried her older sister always just replied “Out.”
Staring at her older sister Lilo pointed to her pants and with a straight face said “those pants make your butt look big.” Probably trying to look fancy for David. “What’re you putting on your face?” she asked with a head tilt.
